Benefits Of Journal Prompts For Women

The benefits of journaling are absolutely incredible. Research has shown that journaling can:

  1. Reduce stress
  2. Improve memory
  3. Organize thoughts
  4. Boost mood
  5. Improve confidence
  6. Provide a creative outlet

Just to name a few.

The benefits of using journal prompts specifically include these benefits above, as well as their own advantages such as:

  1. Provides you with thought-provoking questions you didn’t think of
  2. Gives a clear direction on what to write about
  3. Guides you through what topics to focus on
  4. Cost-effective way to get to know yourself on a deeper level

The Best Way To Use Journal Prompts For Women

Journaling is not a one-size-fits-all thing. There are many ways that you can journal and many things you can journal about.

But because there are so many different ways of doing it, it can be hard to narrow down the most effective way to journal if you’re new to all of this.

So here’s a list of the best journaling tips that I personally use on a day-to-day basis.

1. Be Consistent

If you want to see the benefits of journaling then you must be consistent. There is no way around it.

With many things in life, you have to be consistent, otherwise you won’t see the results you’re looking for. Journaling is no exception to this rule.

How consistent are we talking here? I’d say optimally once a day, but if you don’t want to commit to that in the beginning, then I’d say about 3-4 times a week.

Do you have to journal every day in order to reach the results you want? No, but remember the more you practice something the better you get at it.

2. Journal In Quiet Spaces

I highly highly recommend journaling somewhere where it’s quiet. I know this may not be an option for some of you so I want to provide some solutions (because I too live in a household where the volume is constantly on loud)

Here are some quiet spaces I journaled when I need some silence:

  1. The Library
  2. In my car
  3. The park (not on the weekend)
  4. In my closet

If you can’t go to those places then I would recommend:

  1. Journaling when no one else is awake (in the morning)
  2. Using your headphones to play some white noise in the background (eg ocean sounds)

3. Use Pen And Paper

Another thing I highly recommend is to journal with pen and paper, and to take it a step further I suggest you get a journal just for you

While it’s absolutely possible to achieve the goals you’re looking for with journaling digitally, I don’t recommend it because the effects aren’t nearly the same as physically writing them down.

This is because when you journal using a piece of paper it makes the experience (and what you’re writing) more real than if you had done it digitally.

You can’t go back and edit something that you wrote in pen (well I mean you can but you know what I’m saying).

You also can’t partake in the insanely satisfying experience of thumbing back through all of your growth and journal prompts if you did it digitally. Research has even shown that writing can improve learning and memory as opposed to typing.

The Best Journals For Women

1. Gratitude Journal

Gratitude journals are the best way to add some gratitude to your day. They typically include thought-provoking questions and journal prompts, and even though the name may suggest that it’s only about appreciation, I have seen many gratitude journals also focus on:

If you’re looking for an inexpensive simple gratitude journal this one is the way to go!

2. Regular Journal

Another great journal for women is just a simple lined journal, especially the ones with bookmarks. You can turn these journals into any type of journal that you want them to be.

I personally use my regular journal for most of the things I like to write about in the day with the exception of affirmations and planning out my day.

So for my regular journal, I include things like listing 3 things I’m grateful for, my top priorities for the day, or just journaling for emotional well-being.

You don’t have to do it this way, this is just based on personal preference.

Regardless of the type of journal you pick, though, I recommend just having a regular journal for everyday use because it takes the pressure off and you can use it for any reason, unlike journals specifically for something (such as a gratitude journal).

3. Self-Care Journal

Another great option for a journal is a self-care journal. A good self-care journal normally includes:

If you already journal then you know how great it is to have all of these things in one place without having to do these charts yourself with a regular lined journal.

An awesome self-care journal that I highly recommend is this one! It has everything listed above and then some; it also has really vibrant colors, thick journal pages, and is a great price for the quality.

4. Prayer Journal

Using a prayer journal can be a phenomenal way to start (or end) your day! If you’re looking for an amazing prayer journal I highly recommend this one

It includes:

This journal is a great way to stay on track and motivated throughout the week.
