How To Make Self-Care A Priority
Many of us can relate to having a jam-packed schedule and couldn’t possibly imagine adding one more thing to our plates.
But I want to tell you something. Fitting self-care into your day does not have to be an all-day event. Taking just 5 minutes a day to take care of yourself can make all the difference.
It may initially seem like a smart move to put off taking a break, but prolonging it will just do more damage in the long run.
Why?
Because you will get burned out. You cannot pour from an empty cup.
If you genuinely cannot make any extra time in your schedule, then try finding ways to incorporate self-care with the ordinary things in life that you need to be doing anyway such as:
- Taking a shower
- Eating a piece of fruit
- Doing your hair
You have to take a moment to step back and truly make some time for yourself, my friend, even if it’s just 5 minutes.
When Is The Best Time to Incorporate Self Care?
The best time to incorporate this into your routine is to either:
The most optimal times to incorporate self-care are:
- In the morning
- On your lunch break
- In the evenings
- Right before bed
I highly suggest option number 1 (in the morning) because this is typically the time of the day when it’s the most quiet, you’re not tired, and it’s a great way to start your day.
I personally incorporate my 5 minutes self care ideas in the morning due to those same reasons listed above.
If I commit to doing them any other time then I will more than likely come up with some excuse as to why I’m not doing it.
That’s just me though.
Another great way to incorporate these ideas is randomly throughout the day because it takes the pressure off.
Regardless of what time you choose, just choose something and stick with it.
Make a goal to set aside time each day, or each week, to take care of numero uno (you). It’s extremely important.
